We Are Moving to Libera.Chat Network
In light of recent developments in the IRC community, the Lunar Linux team has decided to migrate our official IRC presence from Freenode to the Libera.Chat network.
Why We're Moving
As many of you may be aware, there have been significant changes in the management and policies at Freenode. After careful consideration, we believe that moving to Libera.Chat aligns better with our community values and will provide a more stable and community-focused platform for our discussions.
How to Connect
You can now find us in the #lunar channel on the Libera.Chat network. Here's how to connect:
Server: irc.libera.chat Port: 6667 (plain text) or 6697 (SSL) Channel: #lunar
Many IRC clients allow you to connect using the server name directly:
/server irc.libera.chat
/join #lunar
For those new to IRC, you can also use the Libera.Chat web client to join us directly in your browser.
Transition Period
To ensure a smooth transition for all community members, we will maintain a minimal presence on the Freenode network for a short period, primarily to direct users to our new home on Libera.Chat. However, please note that all official discussion and support will now take place on Libera.Chat.
Other Communication Channels
This change affects only our IRC presence. Our other communication channels remain unchanged:
- Mailing Lists: No changes
- Forums: No changes
- Bug Tracker: No changes
Looking Forward
We view this as an opportunity to reinvigorate our real-time communication channels and encourage more community participation. If you haven't joined us on IRC before, now is a great time to get involved!
We appreciate your understanding and support during this transition. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out on the new channel or through our other communication platforms.
